  • Background of our divorce law firm in San Diego

When we opened our doors in 1995, we immediately started working on cases in the areas of family law, divorce, bankruptcy, and general civil litigation. We have since worked on many other types of cases. However, those few areas are what we like to call our foundation.

Mr. Reed’s experience at other law firms led him to forming his own practice, based on a desire to create a different kind of practice from what he had experienced. He assures all his clients that he can aggressively and persistently defend their rights.

    Our commitment to clients

Witnessing an approach that many lawyers take makes it evident that a number of divorce law firms in San Diego appear to be working to benefit themselves and not their clients. Mr. Reed wants you to know that his intention during legal representation is to act in your best interests, not your lawyer’s. The welfare of his clients always comes first.

Our firm keeps you updated on case progress, provides access to speak directly with your lawyer, and demonstrates a high level of integrity and care regarding the service we offer you.

    Bankruptcy
    • Chapter 7

Chapter 7 Bankruptcy gives people the opportunity to get out from underneath their debt. Many people are honest, hard working people but due to unfortunate circumstances such as a loss of a job or a a severe pay cut they are unable to keep maintaining their bills. Not only does Chapter 7 BK allow many people to get out from under their debts, many people are also able to keep their houses, cars, and personal belongings. Not every person qualifies for a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. There are many factors to take into consideration when trying to determine if Bankruptcy is the right path for you. • Chapter 13

Chapter 13 Bankruptcy differs from Chapter 7 Bankruptcy because it usually requires the debtor to repay all of, or a portion, of their debts. This requires you and your attorney to propose a payment plan that must be accepted by the United States Trustee. The plan is going to require the debtor to repay some, or all of, their debts over a 3-5 year period. Chapter 13 Bankruptcy is usually best for those people that might have an income that is too high to qualify for a Chapter 7. One of the keys to a Chapter 13 is being certain that your income is sufficient to maintain all your current payments in addition to the payment created by your Chapter 13 plan. Failing to stay current or failing to pay your Chapter 13 plan can cause your bankruptcy to be almost immediately dismissed. Determining whether or not you qualify for a Chapter 13 can be fairly confusing. And as with a Chapter 7 it is important to decide whether it is the right path for you.
